HbbTV Symposium and Awards 2021 on November 25-26 in Paris
Geneva, March 31, 2021 – The 9th HbbTV Symposium and Awards will take place in Paris, France, on November 25 and 26, 2021. This was announced today by the HbbTV Association, a global initiative dedicated to providing open standards for the delivery of advanced interactive TV services through broadcast and broadband networks for connected TV sets and set-top boxes.
The key summit of the connected TV industry, targeting platform operators, broadcasters, advertisers and adtechs, standards organisations and technology companies, will be co-hosted with SALTO, the new French TV platform founded by the leading domestic public and commercial broadcasters France Télévisions, TF1 and M6.
“After the regrettable, but necessary cancelation of our 2020 Symposium, we are confident that we will be able to prepare and carry out again an exciting summit this year despite the challenges the Covid-19 situation poses to international business events,” said Vincent Grivet, Chair of the HbbTV Association. “We are delighted to hold this edition of the HbbTV Symposium and Awards in Paris with SALTO as the co-host.”
“HbbTV was partly born in France a decade ago, and there are many signs of a completely renewed appetite in the French market for HbbTV, where SALTO perfectly embodies this new breed of enriched TV proposals which can be built by taking advantage of interactive HbbTV capabilities,” added Grivet. “As always, the HbbTV Symposium and Awards will offer extensive insights into the latest and most innovative services offered to viewers, operators and advertisers.”
Thomas Follin, CEO of SALTO, said: “SALTO has successfully launched its enriched TV proposal in the French market and our goal is to make it quickly and easily accessible on the TV sets of all French homes. HbbTV is key in our platform strategy and we are very happy to co-host the annual HbbTV Symposium in Paris, fostering the relationship between the French TV players and the global HbbTV community.”
To be prepared for all possible scenarios, the HbbTV Association is working on a hybrid event which includes an in-person gathering, the size depending on the situation and local regulation, and the possibility to participate online. More information on the conference agenda, Awards categories and participation and the opportunities for sponsorship and commercial support will be provided in due course.
