The webinar focuses on the HbbTV Operator Application specification with details on the recent specification update and its implementation at Everyone TV (BBC/ITV/Channel 4/Channel 5). The UK TV platform is using the updated specification for its Freely OpApp, launching in 2024. The 60-minute live session includes a Q&A with the audience following the presentations.

Speakers’ bios
Arne Redl is a Senior Engineer and has been with SES/HD+ for more than 10 years. He has worked on various HbbTV projects and, since 2019, on the specification, launch and development of the HD+ Operator Application on various platforms.
Chris Poole leads a media streaming and connected TV research team at BBC R&D. He represents the BBC in several HbbTV groups and has been one of the main contributors to the new HbbTV Operator Application specification.
James Jackson is the Director of Technical Strategy at Everyone TV where he is responsible for the technical architecture supporting the Freeview and Freesat television platforms. His work has included leading the technical development and operation of the Freeview Play service since 2016 to build the world’s largest HbbTV platform and his current role in ensuring the technical design and delivery of the UK’s new Freely TV service.
Jeff Hunter is the Chief Architect at YouView TV Limited, having helped to set up the business in 2010. Prior to that Jeff spent 20+ years at the BBC helping to launch Freeview, Freesat and iPlayer; contributing to standardisation for digital broadcasting within DVB, UK DTG and ISO/MPEG; and building lots of fun stuff from outside broadcast equipment to radio frequency planning software.
